Hockey

Today for kiwi sport we had our  hockey this year. For a warm up we had a game of octopus. We first picked the proper sized hockey sticks and had a practise dribbling. Then we played a game called  traffic light. Green means dribble the ball forward, orange means stay in one spot and dribble the ball and red means that we have to stop the ball and stay still. We added in new colours into the game like silver, purple, and blue. Silver is super speed so we had run around fast, dribbling the ball. Purple is dribbling the ball backwards. And blue is around the spot which means we had to dribble the ball in a circle. We all had fun. After that we had another game and all we had to do is juggle the ball as m any times as we can. The year 7's all had a great time at hockey.

Paper planes project.

Yesterday we have started something new. Mrs Anderson has created a maths challenge. We have been trialing and making planes. This challenge was very interesting and it was very fun because everyone participated and made a plane. This was a silent challenge because Mrs Anderson wasn't talking to us in that session. Instead of Mrs Anderson talking she showed us a google slide about what we are going to do. It was really fun.

Collaborative Popplet

This term our inquiry focus was on the Bartailed Godwit but in Maori it is known as the Kuaka. The Yr7's have created a popplet together that tells informations about the appearance, habitat, Migration diet and what effects Godwit/Kuaka in different ways. We also added in some images and videos to give a clear picture of the special bird.  Did you know that they have a 8-9 day non stop flight, this adds up to one whole week and one day which is a short period of time considering they are flying long distance.   We look toward to learn more about the unique birds.

Math solving ???

Decimals - Maths

Today for maths we were learning how to recognize decimals and how to order decimals. We were recognizing decimals by using fractions to help us. ( e.g : 0.5 would be 5/10 in a fraction ) We practiced ordering decimals on a online worksheet which we had to read the question and solve it out in our maths book. I was also learning the places for the decimals. I really liked learning about decimals because I was learning something new and it links to fractions which could also help me with fractions.

Yesterday the year 5 & 6's, the year 7 & 8's went to the Rugby Cluster Day. We were in the middle of warming up and saw Otahuhu College students to come and coach and support us through out the day. The coaches names were Manu, Rulon, Pya & Lesley(Coach for Otahuhu College). Our first game was up against Bailey Road School. At the end the we came to a draw, but won it. The next game was against Pt England. Unfortunately we lost 7-2. Tamaki Primary was our next match. Lucky we one by one point 3-2. Sylvia Park was hard to beat and we lost 3-5. Our next game was against Glen Brae and lost 3-1. We took a break and waited to see if we had anymore matches coming up, we were lucky enough to get one more game which was against Sylvia Park.We tried our best and won our last game 5-3. We would to say a big thank you to Mr O and the Otahuhu students for coming down and coaching us for our games.

Olympic venues

LS2 students were learning about Olympic venues, when they have to spend big money instead of  helping people who really need it.My provocation is should  the host country have to spend so much money on building Olympic venues. My Opinion is  NO because if they do spend money they won't receive money and also because  they wasted two major events in two year.

Run jump throw

This is the basic things what ms Andy told LS2 students to do.

Today we had run jump throw with ms Andy. When we played a warm up game we moved on to run straight on the court line .After we played the warm up game we started to run and look straight as we were running This game was Hurdle relays when you had to have a buddy,  and LS2 was waiting for Andy when she says" on your mark set go you run and get your cone and run back were you were before .
